At Valley Center for the Blind we join together in a spirit of dedication to assist persons who are blind and visually impaired in experiencing a more independent and opportunity filled life.
Judy began a 20 year career in the healthcare field at a premier hospital in Fresno Ca after being a volunteer and homaker for many years. The last seven years Judy has served as Director of the Foundation and Volunteer services departments. Judy retired in 1998 and her vision loss began in 2001 due to long term development of retinitis pigmentosa although has retained some vision in her right eye. She has a 2nd guide dog, Rosie whom she loves dearly and is pictured in her bio.
Her relationship with VCB began in 2010 when she met the founder Andrea Swartz who encouraged her to join the knitting and crocheting group and told her “blind people can’t knit!” but she was assured that they can and she has been attending the group ever since. She feels it’s a pleasure to be on the board and believes the advances made by our director Ken Warkinton has been a blessing for our continued growth.
