Braille Learners who are blind or have low vision are invited to participate in the first Central California Braille Challenge in Fresno on February 10th. This is a great opportunity for students in grades 1-12 across the Central Valley to show off their Braille skills and possibly qualify for nationals. Breakfast and lunch (at noon) will be provided. Students who are blind or have low vision and their families are also welcome to attend our resource fair starting at 11 AM. We’ll have resource tables, panels, presentations, and a door prize! We hope you can join us to celebrate braille and to learn more about the opportunities available to students who are blind or have low vision.
The levels for the Braille Challenge are:
- Apprentice: Grade 1 & 2 (contracted or uncontracted)
- Freshman: Grade 3 & 4
- Sophomore: Grade 5 & 6
- Junior Varsity: Grade 7–9
- Varsity Grade: 10–12
- Rookie: Grades 3-12 students learning Braille below their grade level
