Braille Learners who are blind or have low vision are invited to participate in the second Central California Braille Challenge in Fresno on March 22nd. This is a great opportunity for students in grades 1-12 across the Central Valley to show off their Braille skills and possibly qualify for Finals in Los Angeles. Breakfast and lunch (at noon) will be provided. People who are not participating in the Braille Challenge contests are also welcome to attend our presentations to learn more about what VCB does and how we can work together to ensure kids and teens who are blind or have low vision have access to more programs and opportunities like these. We hope you can join us to celebrate braille at this year’s Central California Braille Challenge.
The levels for the Braille Challenge are:
- Foundational
- Apprentice: Grade 1 & 2 (uncontracted only)
- Freshman: Grade 3 & 4
- Sophomore: Grade 5 & 6
- Junior Varsity: Grade 7–9
- Varsity Grade: 10–12
- Rookie: Grades 3-12 students learning Braille below their grade level
