DIVERSITY, EQUITY, INCLUSION, AND BELONGING

At Valley Center for the Blind, inclusion is at the very core of who we are and why we exist. Vision loss can happen to anyone — no matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, or how you identify. We strive to authentically unleash the strength of diversity and foster empowerment through the unwavering spirit of equity. Our mission makes it our shared responsibility to not only implement these principles, but to live them every day. Through inclusive policies, outreach, and education, VCB continues to improve the diversity of who we support, train, and employ. Together we can champion a brighter and more inclusive tomorrow.

OUR PROGRAMS

Valley Center for the Blind is inspired and dedicated to providing people experiencing vision loss with a safe and engaging place to find support, community and high-level training programs.

Our Rehabilitation Core Courses consist of Assistive-Technology, Braille, Independent Living Skills and Orientation and Mobility. We also host a variety of classes, support groups and workshops to provide participants with a well-rounded and caring educational experience. Each individual’s rehabilitation journey is custom designed to meet that person’s needs and goals. We will walk with you on your journey to surpass your own expectations.

VCB also works together with clients to prepare, find, and retain employment, both at VCB and in the community. Our Employment Services and Industry programs help those with vision loss discover their true capacity for meaningful employment. Join us as we seek to make a difference in the lives of those with vision loss!

WHO PARTICIPATES AT VCB

VCB supports, trains, and employs people experiencing all levels of visual impairment and blindness. Many VCB participants and employees are referred from health care professionals when corrective lenses no longer are sufficient for performing daily tasks or they have had a disruption in employment due to accessibility in their workplace. Each participant’s program is customized to meet their individual goals, abilities, and preferences.

We work exclusively with people who are legally blind and visually impaired, which helps to make VCB staff uniquely and extensively qualified. VCB does not require a referral and has a wide variety of tools, technology, and tricks to make independently living and working with vision loss achievable. Vision loss comes in many forms – please contact us if you have any questions or think you may benefit from one of our many services!
